Questions about use of bond funds arise in Mesa sports park bankruptcy case

A U.S. attorney said in a court filing that bond monies issued by the Arizona Industrial Development Authority to build Legacy Park in Mesa might have been misappropriated and that the sports facility’s operators might have committed negligence or fraud.

In the filing last week, the assistant U.S. Attorney representing the U.S. Trustee’s Office overseeing the park’s bankruptcy case asked the judge to put the brakes on approving continued funding for its operation under current management pending a more detailed accounting and further information on its principals.
