Paradise Valley Town Council has unanimously approved the intermediate special use permit for redevelopment of Scottsdale Plaza Resort.
The council voted yes 5-0 on June 8 with Council Members Ellen Andeen and Christine Labelle absent.
“This is such a significant property and gateway to the town. It’s going to be a real showstopper,” Council Member Mark Stanton said.
Study sessions began in October 2022 to review the application. An extension for further review was granted in March and the Paradise Valley Planning Commission forwarded their recommendation of approval to the Town Council on May 2.
Scottsdale Plaza Resort is 36.5 acres located at 7200 N. Scottsdale Road. The redevelopment is to add 64 guest units, three new restaurants, a new spa and pool area, new lobby pavilion, enhanced landscaping and lighting and underground parking.
Throughout the review process, the Planning Commission and Town Council were mainly concerned with parking and if it’s sufficient to meet the addition of guest units and restaurants to the resort.
