It’s official — another commercial development is underway in Maricopa.
Maricopa City Council unanimously approved contracts to sell about 20 acres in the Maricopa Station district to Indiana-based developer Thompson Thrift during a Tuesday meeting.
The sale near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Drive totaled more than $9.25 million.
Plans to develop the area for a big box retailer emerged in April when InMaricopa obtained pre-application paperwork through a public records request. A preliminary site plan at the time proposed space for four retail stores and two restaurants.
