MARICOPA — The Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission approved rezoning for the mixed-use Heritage District and Transportation Corridor on Thursday.
These overlays go from West Edison Road and down south just passed Honeycutt Avenue, John Wayne Boulevard bisects them.
The Heritage District was originally approved by city council in 2015, seeking to promote infill development, while supporting residential and retail use and three mixed-use pedestrian neighborhoods.
The rezoning is consistent with the redevelopment plan, according to city staff, relaxing development standards, reducing parking and landscape requirements, updating site and building design guidelines, and expanding and limiting permitted uses, though the goals remain unchanged.
