Peoria approves water facility expansion

Peoria City Council, at its June 27 city council meeting, unanimously approved the action to amend the city’s contract with MGC Contractors to start the final phase of construction on the Beardsley Water Reclamation Facility Expansion project.

The approval brings $10 million from the city’s capital improvement funding to the project.

“The intent of this project is to increase the treatment capacity from about 4 million gallons a day to 6 million gallons a day,” said Cape Powers, water services director for the city of Peoria.

“The Beardsley Water Reclamation Facility provides treatment for a significant portion of our community, as well as some areas designated for growth.”

The expansion project proposed included’s an abundance of repairs and implementations to the facility that will help it be more efficient in its work.
