Population growth in Peoria isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon.
This year, the city’s population is projected to top the 200,000 mark. Looking forward, the city’s population is expected to eclipse 250,000 people in 2037 and 300,000 in 2055, with a jump of about 22% by 2030 and 75% by 2060.
That’s according to a draft study released last month by the Maricopa Association of Governments, better known as MAG.
For the past 18 months, MAG has been gathering data, establishing assumptions, and enhancing models used to prepare an updated set of socioeconomic projections. All data were reviewed by member agencies.
MAG is a council of governments representing 27 cities and towns, including Peoria, plus three Native American nations, Maricopa County, and portions of Pinal County.
Peoria shows a 2023 population of 200,800, making it the county’s seventh biggest city behind Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale and Scottsdale.
