FLORENCE — The Pinal County Board of Supervisors agreed to sign a letter Thursday urging U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to support a $95 million grant for the widening of Interstate 10 between Chandler and Casa Grande.
“The current inability of I-10 to meet the demands placed upon it negatively impacts the economic potential of our entire state,” the letter says. “…This project is one of the most necessary and important projects pending in our state and fits well within the (grant) guidelines and criteria.”
The letter notes it’s the last two-lane segment of I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson, which “causes a daily bottleneck, resulting in heavy congestion and repeated crashes that result in lengthy delays and closures with few alternatives.”
