A site plan modification should be approved to allow for the development of a day care facility on 1.6 acres east of Signal Butte Road on the north side of Guadalupe Road, the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board decided recently.
The board voted 6-0 Aug. 23 on a consent agenda with other items to recommend that the Mesa City Council approve site plan changes and amending the conditions of approval for a planned Brightpath Day Care. Board member Genessee Montes was absent.
The project is within the Mesa Center Pointe group commercial center and is compatible with the surrounding developments and land uses, according to a written staff report from Planner Kwasi Abebrese.
The property is zoned limited commercial and a day care center is permitted in the LC district, Abebrese said at a study session prior to the Aug. 23 meeting.
“The proposed site plan shows the development of a 13,448-square-foot day care center with a fenced playground area located on the northeast and south sides of the proposed building. Vehicular access to the site is provided from an existing drive aisle from Guadalupe Road, specifically at the southwest corner; as well as internally from a shared access drive located at the north side of the site,” he said.
