Coolidge officials: STV incorporation would cost city

By Michael Maresh | San Tan Valley Sentinel

The possibility that San Tan Valley could incorporate has caught the attention of Coolidge officials.

Mayor Jon Thompson said if the incorporation were to happen, the city and other municipalities would lose money because San Tan Valley would receive a piece of the pie in state funding coming to Pinal County.

Finance Director Gabe Garcia said the city would lose about $756,000 if San Tan Valley were to incorporate.

Of the $756,000, $381,455 would be lost in vehicle license tax, $265,067 in the highway user revenue fund, $39,401 in state sales tax and $70,112 in state income tax.
