Glendale repeals updated incentives agreement for luxury resort

The city of Glendale has repealed the updated development agreement for the $1 billion VAI Resort and Mattel Adventure Park after an advocacy nonprofit turned in enough signatures to place the agreement up for a public vote.

The nonprofit Worker Power Institute turned in more than 5,500 signatures to the city in July in an attempt to place property tax incentives associated with the agreement on a future ballot. In August, the group said it was notified that its referendum petition met the required signatures for a public vote.
