Glendale residents, developers square off over hotel location

Residents of one north Glendale neighborhood continue to protest strongly against an upcoming extended-stay hotel that for some will include sight lines from rooms into private backyards.

That, and what they fear as inevitable declines in home values plus potential unwelcome spillover from the proposed 17,590-square-foot StayAPT Suites into their neighborhood just 300 feet away brought more than 100 residents to an open community meeting Monday to face the project owner and developers to air concerns.

“Can anyone honestly say in this room that it’s OK to have an extended-stay hotel to be built that can be seen from your porch?” Skip Crandall asked from the podium.

Crandall has lived on Angela Drive immediately south of the development for 15 years and is one of the homes sitting fewer than 300 feet from the planned three-story structure with 76 suites.
