FLORENCE — Most Pinal County tourists are local, from a 50-mile radius around the state, but the county draws other domestic visitors from California, other parts of Arizona, Texas, Minnesota and Nevada.
Most international visitors to Pinal are from Mexico, followed by Canada, India, Saudi Arabia and Great Britain. But a visitor’s average length of stay is just 1.5 days, according to a presentation on tourism and Pinal’s new tourism strategic plan to the Board of Supervisors on Aug. 10.
Pinal rates best for outdoor and recreational activities, arts, cultural and heritage experiences, and events and festivals, according to a survey of participants who helped to develop the strategic plan.
Pinal was deemed average for food and beverage, destination information and retail and shopping, and below average for conferences and meetings, lodging, and nightlife and entertainment.
