Thousands of Glendale residents hope to block VAI Resort’s massive tax break

Worker Power Institute, the organization that first blocked the Arizona Coyotes proposed arena in Tempe, recently set itssights on Glendale’s new VAI Resort. 

VAI Resort is intended to be a 60-acre luxury stay near Arizona Cardinal’s State Farm Stadium. While Worker Power is slightly concerned about the size and necessity of the project, most of its focus is on the massive tax break VAI was granted.

VAI is set to receive a 25-year Government Property Lease Excise Tax exemption, a factor that Worker Power finds unnecessary.

After going door-to-door, the Worker Power Institute successfully submitted more than 5,500 signatures on the referendum for the VAI Resort.
