After having spent its first three renditions at Scottsdale Stadium, the Western Wiffle Ball Championship is headed to Goodyear Ballpark for its fourth year.

Logan Rose, who founded the tournament, is looking forward to the change in scenery. Rose is the commissioner for Big League Wiffle Ball, a six-team league that has now grown to over 50 players and is based in Scottsdale.

“This is our first year at Goodyear Ballpark, but I think it’s my personal favorite venue for a Spring Training stadium just having been to a lot of them as a baseball fan,” Rose said. “They even have their own wiffle ball fields for the actual games, so it’s pretty cool.”

Rose, who is 16 years old, created the Western Wiffle Ball Championship in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to promote being outside and staying active.

It was really fun for all the players involved. We started posting games to YouTube, and then because of that success that we saw on social media — and just the fun that we had — we translated that to a tournament later that October on just like a month’s notice.

“Off of that, this is now our fourth year, and we’ve seen 75 teams so far in the first three years, and it just keeps expanding.
