It is an honor and a privilege to be a member of the Board of Supervisors and to represent District 2.

Economic Development: Flood Control District Task Force
As noted above, the County strives to implement effective, efficient, streamlined policies and procedures to improve delivery of services. I was honored to kick off the 2023 Flood Control District Task Force earlier this month.
Maricopa County continues to lead the nation in population growth (adding over 56,000 residents in 2022). As the County continues to grow, we work hard to protect residents and reduce the risk of flooding. We ensure that our services are timely and accessible to keep pace. Interacting and speaking with our customers is critical to recognizing and understanding how we can improve. The goal of this stakeholder group is to make recommendations related to permitting, standards, communication, and coordination that have a lasting impact on how we do business moving forward.
Housing: Homebuilders Association’s Home Building Academy
I was honored to attend and speak at the grand opening of the Home Building Academy in Phoenix. Congratulations to the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona who are providing a training program for skilled trades in residential construction. Housing is vital to Arizona’s economy and continual growth. I’m very proud that Maricopa County provided the workforce development grant so these students can gain valuable skills!
Mesa: Improvement to Mitigate Flooding
Recently, the County and the City of Mesa entered into an intergovernmental agreement on a project in the vicinity of the intersection of Stapley Drive and Broadway Road that will consist of storm drains and other conveyance improvements to mitigate flooding. As a member of the Flood Control District, I appreciated the opportunity to partner with the City of Mesa on a project of this scale and importance. And this flood mitigation project will be helpful as Mesa continues to improve storm drain systems and keep residents safe. I look forward to working on future projects that benefit the residents in District 2 and Maricopa County.
Parks Vision 2030
Maricopa County provides best-in-class regional services, which include County parks. The Parks and Recreation Department recently completed the draft Parks Vision 2030 Strategic System Master Plan. The plan will define opportunities, challenges, and recommendations for the next ten years and beyond in continued efforts to protect and expand regional parks, trails, and open spaces. The Plan is available for public review through October 10, 2023.
