Mayor Weise, Avondale Parks & Rec get state awards

Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise was recently named the Public Official of the Year by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association.

In addition to Weise’s award, the Avondale Parks and Recreation Department received three awards of its own for various works and projects completed around the community. 

“I was kind of surprised that I won it,” Weise admitted. “There are so many elected officials across the state and the parks and recreation departments across cities are so vast and broad that when they told me that I won I was just kind of shocked.
