Robinson ‘excited’ about casita rule impact

Phoenix Councilman Kevin Robinson, whose district includes Ahwatukee, said he is “excited” about the potential impact of the city’s new zoning amendment allowing casitas in the backyards of single-family homes.

Robinson, one of the 8-1 votes approving the Zoning Code amendment permitting “Accessory dwelling units,” or casitas, said, “This vote was made to increase housing supply on existing lots.

“ADUs will give homeowners many options when it comes to the use of their property, including providing onsite care to older relatives and creating a housing market for young adults who are early in their careers.
