CASA GRANDE — Arizona Sonoran Copper Company’s expansion plans come before the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission next week.

The company, which owns the old Asarco Sacaton Unit, seeks to add 186 acres north of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and west of Bianco Road. Rose Law Group, representing Arizona Sonoran Copper, seeks a land use change from Neighborhoods to Manufacturing and Industry.

Another request seeks a major amendment to a planned area development to allow mining. Planning staff are recommending that the commission forward a favorable recommendation on both requests to the City Council.
