G Diamond Ranch residents decry apartment complex

Rendering City of Casa Grande

By Jodie Newell | Casa Grande Dispatch

CASA GRANDE — Residents of the G Diamond Ranch community on Thursday vigorously opposed a two-story, 120-unit apartment complex proposed by Utah-based Westates about 600 feet south of the southeast corner of Kortsen Road and Colorado Street.

Seventeen speakers told the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission that they opposed a major site plan change. Those who voiced their opposition to the project included city employees Economic Development Director Richard Wilkie, Fire Chief Dave Kean and Police Sgt. Jeff Cardita, who live in nearby G Diamond Ranch.

The commission tabled the request for further discussion.
