The City of Chandler is expanding its special infill district and program to help revitalize older neighborhoods.
Chandler started its Infill Incentive Plan and Infill Incentive District in 2009, contributing city funds to help redevelop areas needing an upgrade.
“I think marrying economic development with planning development like this will really bring big dividends for the city,” Councilmember Mark Stewart said. “Not just for the business community, … but for the neighborhoods that are surrounding some of these infill development programs.”
One example where it has been used is at the corner of Alma School and Warner roads, where the old Smitty’s store has become a Great Hearts Academies school.
