Big demand for more rec venues confronts Gilbert

Residents want more pickleball courts, more programs, a new aquatics facility and a recreation center for the southeast part of Gilbert, town officials say.

Staff is working to deliver those amenities to the growing town as programs and facilities are bursting at the seams and presented known capital project needs for parks and recreation to the Town Council last month.

“Most of our programs and most of the facilities are over-programmed right now, over capacity,” Town Manager Patrick Banger said.
