Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega’s term ends Jan. 1, 2025, meaning the mayor’s chair is up for election in November.
While Ortega has been mum on his reelection plans, one prominent name has entered the race.
Linda Milhaven, a city councilwoman for three consecutive terms, has filed paperwork to run for mayor.
In 2010, Milhaven was first elected to City Council.
Four years later, she was reelected – leading a pack of eight candidates for six positions with just under 18% of voters choosing her.
Voters awarded Milhaven a third City Council term in 2018, with Milhaven coming in third in a field of five for three seats.
In 2020, Ortega first topped five candidates in the primary, then soundly defeated Lisa Borowsky in the general election.
Asked if he planned to run for reelection, Ortega gave a non-committal response in October, “I look forward to the elections next year.”
