Intel’s massive upgrade in Chandler affects nearby neighborhoods

Travel along any of several main streets in the area around Intel Corp.’s Ocotillo plant in southwest Chandler and you might see some roadwork happening.

So much work has been happening it’s as if a new plant is opening.

In a way, the Ocotillo facility expansion, set to be completed sometime in 2024 will be like an all-new place. That will align somewhat with the opening of one of the Valley’s other giant technology plants: the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. plant, also set to open in north Phoenix by the end of 2025.

However, work on what Intel calls Fabs 52 and 62, on the Intel campus near Dobson and Ocotillo roads, isn’t the only thing happening in the area. Miles of new utility lines, road paving and reworking and other urban infrastructure improvements must be completed around the neighborhood.
