As Tempe looks to meet the needs of today and tomorrow, Mayor Corey Woods said the city will have to grow up, rather than out, during his State of the City address on Friday.
Woods, who gave his speech at the newly opened Omni Tempe Hotel at Arizona State University, said there are a lot of projects in the pipeline. Citing a community survey conducted this year, Woods said Tempe residents ranked improving the lives of those who are unhoused as the top concern. As a way to bridge the gap to meet more affordable housing needs, Woods said the city got to work on increasing the number of housing units.
