They said it a year ago, when they first heard about the massive plan to develop 120 acres auctioned by the state.
They said it again months ago, at neighborhood meetings.
And DC Ranchers said it again at the Dec. 7 Design Review Board meeting.
“Traffic nightmare.”
That phrase was used by several and summed up the concerns of many others opposed to the Mack Innovation Park, between Bell and Pima roads just east of the Loop 101.
In other cases, citizens who complained about projects said various boards didn’t listen to them.
But not this time.
Though far from the outright rejection some hoped for, the Design Review Board – some members echoing residents’ concerns – withheld approval, unanimously voting to make the Mack come back and ask for approval again in January.
The motion is “to give the applicant time to work with staff on board comments.”
But the motion specified board comments about relatively minor design concerns – not the neighbors’ Greek chorus of “traffic nightmare.”
