Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty announced that a five-acre parcel near Pinnacle Peak, originally purchased by land developer K.T. Palmer in Scottsdale and serving as his favorite retreat until his final days, is going onto the market.
Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty agents Preston and Nancy Westmoreland are the agents for this property, which has a list price of $2 million.
In the 1930s, Palmer (also the co-founder of the Town of Carefree) explored thousands of acres available and decided to establish his ranch in the parcel now listed for sale. He chose this land, which now borders the lake and golf course of Estancia, to raise his family, entertain his friends, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area in relative solitude. He had to build a road to the site, which at the time had no human neighbors for five miles.
He captured the history of the ranch in his autobiography “For Land’s Sake” writing, “I selected land on the Western slope of a northern outpost of the McDowell Range called Pinnacle Peak, the sight is gorgeous to behold. And on this particular piece of land were the largest and healthiest saguaros I had ever seen.”
