Dear Fellow Paradise Valley Resident:

With election season starting, many of you have inquired about my plans.  After careful consideration and despite ample encouragement, I’ve decided not to seek re-election for a fourth term as Paradise Valley’s mayor.I would like to share with you the reasoning behind this choice.

Leading our beloved community is a profound responsibility.  Throughout my service, I’ve set ambitious goals for our town and myself, consistently assessing performance during this time.  I’m pleased that our Town is running well, is safe and financially secure, and has enhanced its reputation. Our community also radiates joy and gratitude.

I believe that public service is not simply about the “wins,” but also how the job gets done.  I have worked to lead by example, prioritizing problem prevention and resolution, consensus-building, and decency.  I take pride in the many outstanding results our community has won, often against the odds and during uniquely challenging times, while maintaining transparency and upholding our values.  You expect and deserve no less.

My own requirement to step forward from this role has been to meet these high standards for our Town while fostering an organizational culture that can uphold our shared vision beyond my time in local service. I promised as much during my last campaign.  Our Town will always need committed volunteer leadership, but we are fully prepared for the future.

With these promises fulfilled and our Town in top condition, I eagerly anticipate new opportunities and challenges. Rest assured that I am committed to pursuing excellence for our community until my term concludes. And, I will stay engaged and will gladly be of service to our Town in the helpful ways I can in the future.

I am so grateful for all the encouragement, kindness, and constructive criticism I have received. Former Town leaders, especially my great mentor and friend Scott LeMarr, have given me invaluable wisdom and support. Their dedication, along with that of our Town’s many amazing current and past volunteers and staff, has been key to lifting our Town to its current stature.  Of course, none of our Town’s success is possible without you – our wonderful citizens and stakeholders.

Leading our Town for many years at a relatively young age, with great love and encouragement from my family, friends, and supporters, is both a blessing and an honor. I look ahead with great optimism to 2024 and beyond.  Thank you for the privilege of serving as your mayor!

Warmest Regards,

Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner
