It’s no secret that Intel has been a driving force in Chandler’s conversion from “a city of crops and fields to a city of fabs and chips,” as Mayor Kevin Hartke said Feb. 15 in his State of the City address.
The mayor highlighted at the start of his address many of the tech businesses that have provided high-paying jobs, a solid tax base, and so much more to the region.
“Chandler is an appealing place, and we have many exciting things to come this year,” Harke said at the Chandler Center for the Arts.
He highlighted Intel being in the city for 45 years, and drawing many other tech businesses to Chandler to support it. Some of the newer ones the mayor mentioned included Edwards Vacuum, EMD Electronics, Bechtel, Yield Engineering Systems, and Saras Micro Devices.
Hartke said the city was named best for business by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
