The Smith family — Smith-Enke Road namesake — is looking to sell more than 420 acres of farmland at the northeast corner of Steen and Porter Roads to build a new subdivision called Stagecoach Springs at Smith Farms, according to documents obtained in a public records request.

A pre-application narrative said the family wants to “market and sell the property for development that is beneficial for the city and its future.”

The development would allow for about 1,100 single family homes on nearly 300 acres of land, while another 41 acres would hold up to 990 multifamily units. Floor plans and construction timelines were not available.

More than 150 acres around the property — including along the Santa Rosa Wash — would consist of open space for trails and parks.
