Building and outfitting the remaining 185 acres of Gilbert Regional Park with possible amenities like a pump track and more playing fields are the top priority for a citizen advisory group.
Parks and Recreation Board members last week ranked eight amenities the public says it wants in Gilbert, based on what makes the most impact to the community.
The Parks and Recreation Department will be vying against the police and fire departments for money to fund their projects at a March 11 council financial retreat, according to department Director Robert Carmona.
Altogether, the projects proposed by the three departments totals just over $1 billion, with $727 million for parks and recreational needs.
