Community pays tribute to Vitiello’s time on council

MARICOPA — Rich Vitiello received a standing ovation at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting following the vote on his resignation.

Although Vitiello will remain on the council until April 1, he gave his official resignation to the governing body so that he could begin his run for the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

“I just love to serve,” Vitiello said. “We’re not politicians — we’re eyes and ears for the people that we serve day in and day out, that’s how I look at it. … I gotta thank the whole entire staff, you guys have made it to be a great six years.”
