On Monday, the Florence Town Council unanimously approved rezoning 660 acres of land to allow for the building of what could be a more than 3,000-home, master-planned community.
The rezoning will allow for the development of C.D. Farms, generally located near the northwest corner of Adamsville and Plant roads. The vote took place following the second reading of the ordinance.
C.D. Farms is bordered by Plant Road and a wastewater treatment plant to the east, the Gila River to the northwest, Adamsville Road to the south and undeveloped agricultural land to the west.
On Feb. 1, the Florence Panning & Zoning commission voted to recommend the council approve the rezoning.
