The Goodyear Fire Department recently opened station 188 for service. Located on the northeast corner of Harrison Street and Citrus Road, the station will improve service time in the area and provide a “total wellness approach” for firefighters.
“Public safety is always our top priority,” Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo said in a statement. “I’m very excited about the enhanced level of service this new station will allow us to provide to residents in western Goodyear, as well as the enhancements that will help to protect those who protect the community.”
Fire station 188 is the third facility built in the last three years and focuses on firefighter safety. It includes an improved layout conducive to limiting firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens, a decontamination area, an exhaust capturing system that removes hazards and makes the facility a “healthier working environment,” and a design that aids in the organization of gear and equipment.
