SAN LUIS, Ariz. – The Regional Center for Border Health (RCBH) will make the first hospital in the southern county a reality, with plans to begin construction in San Luis later this year.

The nonprofit organization recently placed a sign announcing the project on the site, after years of preparations to make it a reality and to put the hospital into operation in the spring of 2026.

“For several years, we have worked on this project, and we have a very aggressive schedule that we are going to meet. In a month, we will finish the financing, and I think that by early October at the latest, we could have the groundbreaking or start of construction,” said Amanda Aguirre, president and executive director of RCBH.

The Border Health Medical Campus hospital is projected to start with a capacity of 20 beds and double it in subsequent phases, and it will be built on 10 acres south of the Medical Mall that the organization has been operating since May 2022, in the east of San Luis.
