Fans at Tempe Diablo Stadium won’t see much of it, but players and staff of the Los Angeles Angels will benefit from over $23 million in improvements at the complex that were approved by Tempe City Council on March 7.
Phase 1 of renovation of the half-century-old ballpark will be devoted to a new Major League-Minor League joint clubhouse, indoor performance lab and player-development area. Work will begin in April as soon as the current Cactus League season ends.
The expectation is that it will be completed by the time the Angels return for spring training next year.
