The Tempe Coalition of Affordable Housing has closed a $2.77 million land purchase that could double the affordable units it manages.
The coalition paid $2,773,800 for a 1.27-acre vacant parcel at 1409 E. Apache Blvd., which is near the southwestern corner of McClintock, confirmed Irma Hollamby Cain, coalition board member and managing member.
“We aim to develop multi-family housing on that site and create affordable units for low- to moderate-income Tempeans,” Hollamby Cain said. “It will be multi family, so multi stories.”
Hollamby Cain also triples as Tempe’s deputy director of Community Health and Human Services Director-Housing as well as executive director of Tempe Housing Authority – “essentially all things housing as it pertains to low- to moderate-income residences,” she said.
