Chemical plant looks for approval in Glendale

Pencco is cleared to build a chemical manufacturing plant on the northeast corner of 51st Avenue and Camelback Road, an area dominated by industrial uses.

The Texas-based company provides  iron-based water and wastewater treatment products.

The Glendale Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional use permit for the  project at its April 25 meeting.

“We plan to solve these issues with trucking by having a local plant,” said Adam Hawkins, the project engineer representing Pencco.

Glendale already uses Pencco’s products, and the City of Phoenix receives 40 truck loads coming in from California each week.

Glendale Planner Sydney Tirella said the applicant wants to use a half-acres of the 11.5-acre site now mostly occupied by Watco at the BNSF railway yard
