Commercial development coming to rural areas in QC

By Mark Moran | Queen Creek Tribune

Planners in Queen Creek are considering changing the town’s general plan to allow for commercial development within the Rural Land Use Category. But Queen Creek Senior Planner Sarah Clark made very clear the town is not seeking to rezone any land at this point.

“This is a proposed amendment to the General Plan to potentially allow for commercial development within the Rural Land Use Category under certain criteria to ensure it is compatible with and complements the area (e.g., location, uses, access, design, buffering). This effort does not change the zoning of any property and does not automatically permit commercial development,” Clark said in an email to the Tribune.

The town recently held an open meeting for the public to learn more about the plan, ask questions and express concerns or support.
