The Board of Supervisors today approved Community Solutions Funding for the purchase and installation of three chilled water fountains located on hiking trails at McDowell Mountain Regional Park, which is in District 2.
“These three water fountains, which include pet bowls, will provide additional sources of water for Maricopa County residents and their dogs,” said Vice Chairman Thomas Galvin, District 2. “The availability of clean drinking water at Trailhead Staging Area will benefit hikers and their dogs, and will enhance their outdoor experiences at the park.”
The Board of Supervisors’ Community Solutions Funding is primarily intended to cover the cost of initiatives that carry the potential of advancing Maricopa County’s Strategic Goals and provide a clear public benefit for Maricopa County residents.
McDowell Mountain Regional Park has seen attendance increase over the last several years. Clean drinking water will be accessible at the Trailhead Staging Area, where three trailheads are located, including McDowell’s longest and most difficult trail, Pemberton. The project costs $73,732 and is expected to be completed on June 17, 2024.
