The town of Florence is bringing on a new Community Development director.
Effective Monday, May 13, A.J. Monroe will begin working for the town. He has more than 27 years of experience, including 17 years with the city of Portage, Indiana.
“Monroe will lead the development of Florence’s land use strategies, oversee code enforcement and building safety inspections, spearhead historic preservation efforts, and drive proactive community-based planning initiatives,” a town press release stated.
While at Portage, Monroe led the development of numerous sections of the Marquette Greenway Trail, Portage’s City Hall remodeling, Founders Square & Plaza, and Lakefront and Riverwalk projects.
