The Goodyear Planning and Development Commission Wednesday approved a rezoning that will establish “truck parking” in a 5.6-acre area near Phoenix-Goodyear Airport.
As per city staff, the designated truck parking area will not only serve as a parking space but enhance the operations of a trucking business.
The subject property, situated at the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and El Sol, is positioned west of the future Lux locker condominiums RV storage area and the Microsoft corporate data center campus.
City Planning Manager Christian Williams said the area would facilitate truck parking in Goodyear.
“You might have trucks coming and going but … one of the goals of this is when trucks could be currently violating our codes by parking on the streets,” he said.” They’d now have a place on a property that is secure, safe and screened to park.
Williams reiterated through the commission’s presentation that it is not a truck stop but rather a truck park.
