SUP for tennis facility in San Tan Valley sparks debate

Despite significant opposition from local residents, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors has approved Resolution No. 2024-SUP-033-23. This resolution allows Rafael Font de Mora to develop a Tennis Training Facility on a 3.46-acre property located at 2413 W. Phillips Road, within the General Rural (GR) zone of San Tan Valley.The Planning Commission had earlier recommended unanimous approval of the Special Use Permit (SUP) with 23 stipulations, ensuring compliance with community standards and mitigating potential impacts. This recommendation, along with the resolution’s approval, marks a significant step forward for the project.

Community Concerns

Local residents have voiced various concerns regarding the development. These include potential increases in traffic, noise pollution, and the overall impact on the rural character of the area. During a neighborhood meeting on November 21, 2023, and through subsequent communications, residents highlighted their worries about the project’s compatibility with the existing residential landscape.
