(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) – Let’s Play Ball! Starting October 19th, 2024 join the Big League Wiffle Ball 2024 Series for The Western Wiffle Ball Classic at Scottsdale Stadium.
Brand new for 2024 – the series now consists of 5 unique events featuring 4 tournaments held across the Valley of the Sun concluding with a Final Four championship tournament at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The series will allow teams the chance to compete and guests to enjoy the spectacle along with unique theming at each event.
Created by Valley 17-year-old Logan Rose during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to promote being outside and staying active, this is the fifth year teams from across the country have participated in the Wiffle Ball Championship. Over the years more than 100 teams have competed in the event.
Teams of 3-5 are divided into three types, Franchise, Competive and Recreational. Ten Franchise will compete to earn points over the 4 Valley tournaments for the chance to be in the Final Four tournament in Dallas. Players may apply to join these teams. The Competitive division is made for advanced and experienced players who will get the opportunity to challenge and play alongside the Franchise teams. The Recreational division is for anyone looking for a laidback experience, while still enjoying the sport. Due to no base running, players of all ages and athleticism are easily able to participate.
The first tournament held at Scottsdale Stadium on October 19th will be “BLW Western Wiffle Ball Classic,” a homage to previous events held at Scottsdale Stadium. Along with a Live DJ, this event will feature a Home Run Derby and be focused on making Wiffle Ball players dreams, harking back to the founding of Big Leauge Wiffle Ball.
Follow this on November 2nd at Tempe Diablos Stadium the “BLW Tempe” will be hosted in partnership with the Diablos Foundation. The theme of Tailgating in Tempe will be sure to please alongside the tournament.
The next tournament “BLW Scottsdale” at Salt River Fields on November 17th will be a family focused day. This event will feature family-friendly activities hosted at the home of the Diamondbacks.
The fourth and final public tournament will be held at AJ Chandler Park on November 23rd, “BLW Chandler” will have local food trucks, vendors and breweries joining the festivities to create a festival for guests to enjoy. In the heart of Downtown Chandler, this will be a showcase of all Chandler has to offer.
On December 14th the “BLW Final Four and World Series” will be held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. This capstone event will consist of a Final Four championship between the top 4 franchise teams from the previous events. Tickets will be sold to the public to watch the event but public (Competitive and Recreational) teams will not get the chance to compete.
“For our fifth anniversary we wanted to go big,” says Rose. “This series of tournaments will provide more opportunities for participation by the public than ever before, along with feeding the competition of franchise teams who will get a chance to show off their skills in this World Series of Wiffle Ball.”
