Chandler faces increase in empty office space

Northrop Grumman notified the state early this month that it may lay off 543 people, all working in its Chandler office in the Price Road Corridor. 

The news came soon after Northrop Grumman lost out on a $17 billion missile defense contract to rival Lockheed in April.

The layoffs mean there is likely to be even more empty office space in Chandler, which is already seeing nearly one-fifth of its office space unoccupied.

Micah Miranda, Chandler’s economic development director, said the Northrop Grumman employees who are losing their jobs will probably not be unemployed for long.
