Avondale residents will soon have a new fire station.
The Avondale City Council voted unanimously to rezone 1.8 gross acres of land at Western Avenue and Sixth Street from multifamily residential to Old Town Avondale Business District. The move paves the way for the development of a new Avondale Fire Station 171, replacing the existing facility.
With an expected completion date of February 2026, the 16,000-square-foot fire station will include four apparatus bays and support areas, a public lobby and restrooms, a physical conditioning room, offices, a kitchen and dining area, a day room and dormitory space. The address for the new Fire Station 171 will be 519 E. Western Avenue, Avondale.
