Early returns in Arizona’s Legislative District 13 primaries show the split most followers expected to see.
With only 7% of precincts statewide reporting Tuesday night by the Secretary of State, Sen. J.D. Mesnard earned the most votes so far in LD13, getting 16,329 votes as he takes the Republican nomination once again.
The uncontested Democrat in the race, Sharon Lee Winters, received 12,571 votes in the Senate race.
On the House side, the lone incumbent seeking reelection, Julie Willoughby, received fewer votes than Jeff Weninger in early reporting in the Republican primary, though both will advance to the November general election.
