Scottsdale candidates speak to mayoral pursuit

By Tom Scanlon | Scottsdale Progress

Scottsdale voters will see three candidates for mayor on their primary ballots: Mayor David Ortega, who also previously was a city councilman; Lisa Borowsky, a former councilwoman who lost to Ortega in 2020; and Linda Milhaven, a former three-term councilwoman.

All three responded to an extensive Progress questionnaire.

Subsequent editions of this newspaper will show their answers to specific questions that will shape the next four years of Scottsdale.

This week: How they described themselves. The responses are listed in alphabetical order.

Lisa Borowsky

An attorney who served on Scottsdale City Council 2008-2012, Borowsky is a board member with the Scottsdale Charros Foundation and was a board member with Experience Scottsdale from 2008-2010.

Why should voters select her?

“I will protect the future of our community by demanding quality development, rejecting quantity and protecting taxpayer dollars

“As a fiscal conservative, I will work to restore fiscal sanity at City Hall. Just because we are Scottsdale, doesn’t mean voters don’t mind paying too much. We’ve witnessed reckless spending and lack of accountability under the current mayor’s watch; we must put an end to it, taxpayers deserve better.”

Linda Milhaven

A retired banker who was a member of Scottsdale City Council from 2011 to 2022, Milhaven was also a board member of Scottsdale Industrial Development Authority from 1994 to 2010.

She has been on many boards, including the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, Scottsdale Arts, Scottsdale Leadership and Scottsdale Community College.
