FLORENCE — A Pinal County supervisor said he’s concerned that misinformation about rising property taxes will hurt efforts to renew the county’s sales tax for road repair.
“I keep seeing headlines over and over that we’ve raised taxes, but we’ve in fact lowered the rate,” Supervisor Jeff Serdy, R-Apache Junction, said. The Board of Supervisors recently approved an 11-cent cut in the primary property tax rate to $3.45 per $100 of net assessed valuation.
Over the last four years, the current board has cut the primary rate a total of 30 cents, “actually the largest decrease over a four-year term of any Pinal County board,” a spokesman said.
