Infrastructure upgrades front and center at CG council meeting

CASA GRANDE — Infrastructure was the key topic at Monday’s Casa Grande City Council meeting with a raft of measures aimed at improving and increasing capacity for the city’s roads and sewer system.

Five contract awards pertaining to city infrastructure were approved by the mayor and councilmembers.

The road improvements involve McCartney and Trekell roads, Centennial Boulevard and Pinal Avenue, and Cottonwood Lane and Thornton Road, and the sewer upgrade will be on Peters Road.

Public Works Director Kevin Louis told the council that a key factor behind the upgrades to Cottonwood Lane and Thornton roads is increased industrial development in that area with related workforces choosing that route as a means to travel home.
