Board asked to rescind its votes for rental housing in San Tan Valley

By Mark Cowling | Pinal Central

FLORENCE — A Johnson Ranch resident asked the Pinal County Board of Supervisors to rescind its votes to approve 181 new rental housing units southwest of Fry’s in San Tan Valley and determine if all messages of opposition had been received and accounted for.

Opponents had been hoping for enough objections to force a super-majority vote of at least 4-1 before the rentals could be approved. They passed on votes of 3-2 on Sept. 4.

“It is my understanding that an additional 18 objection letters were submitted on that date that should have been reviewed and taken into consideration before the Board of Supervisors voted,” Christine Lane of Johnson Ranch told the board on Sept. 18.
